MY PACK

Alyssa, Kyle, chase and pacha

Whether you are boarding your dog for a family vacation, a business trip, or leaving him or her with me for a board and training opportunity; your dog will be staying with my family. My oldest is Alyssa and she is currently attending college. My son Kyle is in high school. My children have grown up around this business. They both have an understanding of clear boundaries with new dogs entering the pack. Last but certainly not least there are Chase and Pacha. Both Chase and Pacha have a unique purpose within the pack and navigating the Pack Perspective. I invite you to scroll through each of their stories.

Thank you,

CHASE

Chase

Chase came to me in early 2014.

My previous dog, Nick, who was a lab/hound mix, had passed about six years prior. The loss of Nick was very difficult, so during those following years, I was never truly ready to let another dog into my heart.
Then one day, I heard news that a house in the area was broken into and the perpetrator was targeting houses without dogs. Being a single mom trying to keep my family and home safe from harm, I decided that it was time to look into getting a new dog.

After extensive research about breeders in the area, I came across Cathy Seale of Nordosten Kennels in Rowley, MA. I called her up expecting there to be a long wait, which there was. But, by sheer luck, somebody had JUST cancelled their deposit on one of her last two available puppies. It was a total -winning the life lottery- kind of moment. I knew then that the timing was exactly right and that this dog was meant to come into my life.
I rushed up to Rowley as if my life depended on it, as if I was cashing in that winning lottery ticket. When I arrived, I found two little fluff balls in a pen area. I drove Cathy crazy for about an hour and a half trying to decide between them, at one point even trying to convince myself that it would be a good idea to just buy both.

Eventually, I closed my eyes and just picked. That’s when Chase entered my world.

Chase is half working line and half temperament-bred line, which shows in his confidence and well-balanced attitude. He has the drive of a working dog and loves guidance and structure. Eager to learn and always motivated, he is my second in command out in the yard when I have a lot of boarders.

Now six years old, Chase is an essential to my boarding business and knows how to help me keep all of the dogs structured and in-line. His stable presence and focus are such important additions to our home (especially when that focus makes us laugh--since the day I brought him home, he’s always loved chasing his tail and is easily mesmerized by lights).

In July 2016, I had oddly been stalking a new litter from Cathy.

Like, totally obsessive stage five-type stalking these puppies. One dog in particular kept standing out to me as Cathy was posting age progression pictures of the litter.

Since I got Chase, Cathy knew that I would be interested in getting a second dog at some point, but we hadn’t discussed it any further. But by some weird coincidence, I got an email from her about the exact puppy I had been obsessing over. She told me that she had this male that she would like to keep for breeding, but she couldn’t keep him there. She wanted to know if I would be interested in co-ownership, a situation in which I would raise the dog and she would maintain breeding rights. I had, yet again, somehow willed this tiny little guy into my life.

So I agreed, and Pacha (pronounced Pa-CHa, after Pacha from The Emperor’s New Groove ) became my second furry family member.

Pacha comes fully from temperament-bred lines, meaning he is much lazier than Chase, much more of a cuddle bug and the biggest mama’s boy. A perpetual puppy in both looks and attitude, Pacha is the perfect yin to Chase’s yang.

Always eager to please, friendly, a head-tilting master, Pacha swiftly became a great addition to my training and boarding business.
Now I’ve become the weird lady on the trail with the two well-behaved, handsome shepherds. Being asked time and time again where I got them and how I trained them, they have become my greatest asset in sales for my business. Loved and respected by all who meet them, Chase and Pacha continue capturing hearts all over. I am thankful every day for my boys.
